California Teen Center

ADHD Evaluation

If you have a child that needs to be evaluated for ADHD or ADD, California Teen Center is the best place to get started. We can complete all the forms your child’s school needs in order to establish an IEP or 504 Plan.

At California Teen Center, we will help you get the paperwork done quickly and easily. You will be able to present these forms to the school without any fear of being denied or excessively questioned.

We will also evaluate your child’s overall mental health and screen for bullying issues. Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD) demonstrated a significant risk (3 to 17 times greater than that of their neurotypical peers) for being a bully, being a victim of bullying, or both, according to a study from the Journal of Attention Disorders.

California Teen Center uses the TOVA test for ADHD, and it is administered by Dr. Lauren Armstrong. TOVA stands for “Test of Variables of Attention.” Your child will also see our psychiatrist, Dr. Sayeh Beheshti, who is the person that signs the documents for the IEP or 504 plan.

California Teen Center conducts a biopsychosocial assessment to screen for bullying, anxiety disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, and a multitude of other harmful disorders that can occasionally develop concurrently with ADHD.

Our process at California Teen Center is thorough and detailed. We take no shortcuts. California Teen Center is for families who want the highest level of detail and precision in their child’s evaluation. We believe that children with ADHD can have normal academic development, and in some cases can have accelerated academic progress. ADHD doesn’t have to mean that your child will get poor grades in school.

The final step in our ADHD evaluation process is to conduct a family therapy session where the child and parents can ask questions and get a full picture of what the test results mean for the future. In some cases, a TOVA test might show that the child DOES NOT have ADHD or ADD, and the circumstances leading up to a testing request can be examined.

The good news is that this entire process is covered by your health insurance (normal deductibles apply). ADHD does not have to be a tragedy and it does not have to be expensive to deal with. Let California Teen Center help you light the way to a brighter future for your child and your family.
